In short: Lívia Tóth (1941–2014) was the first certified Aviva Method teacher in Hungary. She studied with Aviva Steiner in Israel in 1998, taught the method across Central Europe, and from 2007 trained new instructors. She was a teacher and mentor to the founders of The Fertility Class.
At The Fertility Class, we owe a great deal to the women who came before us, women who quietly and with real courage opened a new path in women’s health. Lívia Tóth was one of them.
She was never loud. She was thoughtful, disciplined and deeply committed to helping women understand and care for their own bodies. Her work laid important foundations for what we now call movement-based fertility support, and her influence still shapes how we teach today.
Lívia’s path began not in a classroom or a clinic, but with the birth of her third child. A medical intervention led to a series of complications: uterine prolapse, irregular cycles, incontinence and a rare cervical condition. Doctors recommended a hysterectomy, but Lívia knew her body and its limits. Allergic to many medications, she turned instead to practices centered on breathing, cleansing and glandular health, and her health recovered.
That experience became the foundation of her life’s work: helping other women restore their health through intentional movement.
In 1998, Lívia traveled to Israel to study directly with Aviva Gabriella Steiner, the creator of a movement method designed to support hormonal balance and reproductive function. She became the 45th certified Aviva Method teacher in the world and the first in Hungary.
At the time, the idea that movement could influence fertility was still radical. Lívia saw its potential. She began teaching across Hungary, often in the face of skepticism, and slowly built trust through the experiences of her students. Many of the women she taught went on to regulate their cycles, improve their hormonal health and conceive naturally, often after years of trying.
Through Lívia’s work, the Aviva Method spread throughout Central Europe, and in 2007 she was authorized to train new instructors. Her teaching helped lay the groundwork for an international, grassroots movement in women’s natural fertility support.
We are proud to say that Lívia Tóth was our teacher and mentor. Her guidance shaped the roots of The Fertility Class, and we carry her knowledge into every class we teach.
Lívia’s background was as broad as it was thorough. She first trained as a radio and electronics engineer, and after her own health challenges she studied acupressure, reflexology and health science. She qualified as a recreational movement educator, completed studies at the Buddhist College of Budapest and co-founded the Etka Yoga International Association, a method focused on longevity and spinal strength.
Movement was central to her life. She practiced what she taught, and she kept moving, physically and professionally, well into her seventies. Her energy was unforgettable.
At The Fertility Class, we honor Lívia Tóth as one of the quiet architects of what we do. Her conviction that women can support their fertility through targeted, intentional movement is the same conviction behind our work today, and she helped make it possible for a new generation of women to take ownership of their reproductive health on their own terms.
We continue her work with gratitude.
