Voyage LA Interview: The Founders of The Fertility Class

By Zsofia Jamieson and Marta Han, co-founders of The Fertility Class and certified Aviva Method instructors. Interview originally published by VoyageLA.

In short: VoyageLA interviewed the two founders of The Fertility Class, Hungarian-born mothers who met in London and built an online program around the Aviva Method, the fertility exercises created by Budapest-born Aviva Steiner. The interview covers how they started, what the classes involve and the resources they recommend.

VoyageLA spoke with us about fertility, women’s health and why we started The Fertility Class. Below are highlights from the conversation. Answers have been lightly edited for length and clarity, and you can read the original interview on VoyageLA.

Introducing Marta and Zsofia

Our lives ran in parallel for years. We both grew up in Hungary, moved to the United States for our education and careers, and then to the United Kingdom to raise our young families. That is where, thanks to our sons, we met at a playground in Kensington, London, 14 years ago.

By then, we had both turned to alternative approaches to overcome our own fertility challenges. Zsofia, while working as a fashion executive, had begun teaching fertility exercises to women in the UK as a way of giving back. Marta, a former professional ballroom dancer, had become a yoga teacher and integrative nutritionist focused on hormonal health, and went on to qualify as an instructor herself.

The Fertility Class brings together our expertise and our lived experience. Our purpose is to show women what targeted movement, supported by nutrition and stress care, can do for their reproductive health.

Why aren’t fertility exercises better known?

It is one of the first questions people ask us. Until recently, women rarely spoke openly about painful periods, fertility struggles, miscarriage or menopause. In the last few years that has changed enormously, and women are now asking loudly for research, funding and solutions.

When people stayed quiet about their challenges, they also stayed quiet about what helped them. Today, more and more women hear about The Fertility Class from friends, Instagram and TikTok, and fertility exercise no longer feels like a well-kept secret.

What sets The Fertility Class apart?

The Fertility Class is a program built specifically to support women’s reproductive and hormonal health through targeted exercise. Many fitness programs exist, but ours is focused entirely on fertility and on concerns such as irregular cycles, painful periods, hormonal imbalance and difficulty ovulating.

Our classes are built on the Aviva Method and informed by current research. They use rhythmic, pelvis-centered movements designed to increase blood flow to the reproductive organs and support a regular cycle. Because the program is online and on demand, women can join at any time and practice on their own schedule.

We are also building a community, a place where women feel supported through their fertility journey, share their experiences and enjoy the process.

What are you most proud of?

We are proud of creating a program that supports women in every part of their health, not only the physical. The movements help women understand how their bodies and cycles work, and alongside them we offer nutrition and lifestyle guidance. That combination of practice and education defines who we are, and we are driven every day by the difference it makes in women’s lives.

What should readers know?

Members often tell us that joining The Fertility Class felt like someone finally turned the lights on. We teach the things about fertility we all should have learned as teenagers.

Whether you are trying to conceive, recovering from a gynecological condition or simply want to understand your cycle, membership gives you on-demand classes, nutrition guidance, meditations and visualizations, all designed to fit your schedule and to complement medical fertility treatment. And you join a community that supports you at every step.

Take The Fertility Class From Anywhere

"I have very low fertility and in my previous two attempts we were only able to get one egg each time. I just went through my third retrieval following 6 weeks of the exercises, and they were able to get 3 eggs and there are new ones developing. I was totally hopeless before I found The Fertility Class."
